2011 - Having moved out of my studio and without a space to work, I decided to try drawing on my iPad using the Brushes program. Using photos from my travels and areas around Santa Monica and Venice Beach as my reference material, I was able to make these images using large shapes and lots of color. The capability to put something down quickly, wipe it away with the tap of a finger and start again, was very gratifying—change the background color, no problem. It felt easier and less precious than when I paint with oils. I had the images printed on paper or canvas in any size and they turned out to be these wonderful, colorful, loosely “painted” images.
